Urgent need for Gift of the Heart kits:

Recent hurricanes have taken a toll of the inventory of Gift of the Heart kits.  An urgent appeal for the kits has been issued to help families affected by the storms.  The following list shows the large number of kits that have been sent.

-3,266 clean-up buckets to Louisiana and Texas
-11,420 hygiene kits to Louisiana and Texas
-5,000 hygiene kits to Haiti
-5,000 school kits to Haiti
-864 baby kits to Louisiana

Especially needed at this time are clean-up buckets to be sent to the warehouse at Ferncliff Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center.  Ferncliff will be providing the clean-up buckets to families in Texas and Louisiana affected by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Information on assembling the kits or on making a donation to support the purchase of kits supplies can be found at <http://www.pcusa.org/pda/help/goh.htm>.

Hope Haven Minimize

Hope Haven Ministries is a multi-denominational ministry to homeless people in the Kingsport area. CHPC's commiment includes financial support, serving in leadership roles, and hosting an annual Christmas Party for Hope Haven's residents and staff. Click here to learn more about Hope Haven.

Care Shepherds Minimize

The goal of the Care Shepherd Program is to show Christian love and caring to those of our church family who are in need by arranging meals, visiting, writing notes and cards, making phone calls, or providing other services that may be needed. Our main objectives are to welcome new members into the church; to show love, concern, and support for our members who are hospitalized or in special care facilities; to address the needs of any member who is ill, injured, or has suffered the death of a family member; and to aid and comfort members in any other situations that may occur where special care is needed.

Angel Tree Minimize

The Angel Tree is a mission outreach for children at Christmas.  We work with either the Angel Tree ministry or Grandfather Home to obtain gift requests for children.  From a Christmas Tree set up in the church, members of the congregation select paper "ornaments" with gift requests, purchase the gifts and return them to CHPC to be delivered.

Blood Assurance Ministry Minimize

Periodic blood drives are held resulting in a sure and safe supply of blood products for all church members, their families, and others in the Tri-Cities.

Support of Missionaries Minimize
CHPC, along with several other churches, sponsor missionaries Michael and Irene Sivalee. They have been missionaries in Brazil for over 26 years. Until recently, they worked and taught at the Rev. Antonio Godoy Sobrinho Seminary of Londrina, Parana. Before that, they worked as "church planters" in northern Brazil and then as teachers at the Center for Missionary Training in central Brazil.

In their new assignment in central Brazil, the Sivalees will be working to organize a presbytery, revitalize several existing congregations and "plant" new churches in several areas around Brazilia, Brazil. To find out more about their current mission, visit this site. Then click on Missionaries & Projects, then South America and then Brazil.
